Indiana 2012 put-and-take ring-necked pheasant season

The Indiana DNR is offering “put-and-take hunting” for the ring-necked pheasants from this year from November 17th to the 25th of 2012.

Hunts will available in the following places, Atterbury, Glendale, J. E. Roush Lake, Pigeon River, Tri-County, Willow Slough and Winamac fish and wildlife areas.

If you would like to reserve your pheasant hunt for put and take season this year, you will be able to do so starting September 1st through November 24th at the DNR website.

The hunt fee for this year has increased a little to $25 per hunter. The bag limit is two birds per person.

Though the price has increased some it is to pay for the program. “Our goal has always been to have the put-and-take pheasant program pay for itself,” said Mitch Marcus, chief of wildlife for DNR’s Division of Fish & Wildlife. “The $25 fee allows the division to meet that goal,”

All hunters will have the option to select a date and the property themselves.

The pheasant hunting season will be extended for Atterbury and Glendale until Jan. 15, 2012. The bag limit is still two birds of either sex.
